Raising a teen is both precious and precarious. It’s your last chance to have a positive impact on their life before they become adults, but it requires a delicate balance. During this time of change, tensions can rise, leading to arguments, confusion, and teens feeling misunderstood and distant.

I created this self-paced parenting course to give you the tools and skills you need to help your teen smoothly transition into adulthood. Over the past 20 years, I’ve met many parents who worry they’re not doing things right, and many teens who wish their parents would act differently. So, I combined my experience and expertise into this guide to help you handle these years with confidence and calm.

It’s also important to take care of you as a parent, which is why there’s a module about how to prioritise your own needs within the family. You are the most important person in your family and to be able to give, you have to have something to give.  So I’ve shared strategies to help you manage stress, energy levels and the frustrations that come with raising a teen.

Whether your teen is struggling with anger, anxiety, school, confidence, difficult behaviours and emotions or you’re a prudent parent looking to fine tune what you’re doing, this self-paced course will help you know what do say and do to help them.  the videos will always be there for you to reference whenever you need to; we know that raising teens takes time and practice.

This course will help you to:

    • Build Open Communication: Offer tools for parents to engage in conversations with their teens without triggering resistance or defensiveness.
    • Set Boundaries that work: Guide parents on how to establish rules that promote respect and understanding while encouraging teen independence.
    • Supporting Emotional Growth: Teach parents how to nurture emotional intelligence in their teens, helping them manage stress, anger, and anxiety.
    • Self-Care for Parents: Include practical self-care strategies so that parents don’t neglect their own mental and emotional well-being during this demanding time.

Meet Psychotherapist Bethan – 20 years experience working with teens and their parents for a calm, happy family life.

My work with teens and families has spanned twenty years.  This has included working with self-harm and suicidal teens in Pieta House, facilitating parenting courses and working with teens privately in my practice and online.

In my practice I support teens with all kinds of difficulties including panic attacks, confidence, diagnosis queries/formal diagnosis including ADHD, ADD, Autism and Dyslexia, school refusal, self-harm, school/exam stress, bullying, phones, friendships, anger, anxiety and managing family relationships.

I’ve learned that raising teens is two things – helping the teen develop and manage problems that come their way and making sure that parents have the right tool, strategies and approaches to help their teen in the smoothest way possible.  In this self-paced parenting course, I will share with you what I know works, what I tell all parents I work with and what your teens needs and wants you to know.

My work with teens has been featured on TV with Ireland AM, the Irish Times, The Examiner and radio.

    How Bethan’s courses help parents

Bethan’s course is well worth doing. I learnt about resilience and fostering it in my children. Ben, Dad of two

My children’s emotions and behaviours often confused or infuriated me.  Know I understand them, and myself, a lot better. Bláthnáid, Mum of three

Bethan’s course helped me to find middle ground with my child and get the balance we’ve been looking for. Jen, Mum of two

I did Bethan’s course because I was finding it hard to be the sort of parent I wanted to be.  The main thing I took from the course was understanding children’s brain development, which has helped me understand my own child’s reactions and helped me be the parent they needed me to be. I’d highly recommend this course. Mel, Mum of three
